The Manaslu Valley located around Mt Manaslu, eighth highest mountain in the world is a remote but spectacular area with great landscape and rich culture. The highlights of the trail include Nupri ‘the western mountains’ and the Tsum Valley, along with Larkya La (5100m) pass. The region still has historical and continuing cultural relation to Tibet and has a strong, friendly, hospitable people, a living Buddhist culture and untouched wildlife because of Buddhist prohibitions on hunting. Tsum comes from the Tibetan work ‘Tsombo’, which means vivid. The people are economically poor, since they have been cut off from the mainstream development activities for centuries, but this means their unique culture has remained intact. This is the right time for us to learn and share and be amazed by this amazing place.
Being recently introduced open as a trekking area, there are limited trail facilities. The trek around Manaslu can be done as a lodge trek while Tsum requires a tent or homestays organised in advance. The trail passes through two conservation areas of Nepal, Manaslu Conservation Area Park (MCAP) and Annapurna Conservation Area Park (ACAP).
We believe that there is no better way to travel to a place than travelling with a local. We will provide local guides from the Tsum Valley and Manaslu area to provide the best experience and learning, sharing opportunities. We will conduct the journey with exploration of local landscape, cultural traditions, interact with our locals so we can have a close understanding and experience of the culture.
There are nice lodges in the Manaslu cicuit but in Chum, we will use camping as well as home-stays. It’s also our aim to benefit the local communities as much as possible but won’t compromise your comfort too.
